Brigid Ingredient: Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet almond oil is ideal for nearly all skin types, and is used in skincare for treating many common skin concerns for people of all ages. We use Sweet Almond Oil in our Brigid oil blend in nearly all of our topical products.
Primary Benefits of Sweet Almond Oil
- reduces puffiness and under-eye circles
- soothes dry, irritated skin
- fades scars (including acne scars)
- smoothes wrinkles
- prevents and reduces sagging
In addition, there are a large amount of vitamins and minerals that naturally occur within the oil, including:
- Vitamin A (Retinol)
- Stimulates collagen production, which aids in smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and postpones the signs of aging, including sagging
- Promotes new skin cell growth, improving skin elasticity
- Aids in removing and regenerating elastin fibers and new blood vessels
- Reduces age spots, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, and other sun damage - evening out skin tone overall
- Exfoliates the top layer of dead skin cells, allowing pores to be cleansed of oil and dirt (which allows deeper absorption), reducing their appearance
- May treat psoriasis, as is an active ingredient in many prescription medications
- Reduces the chance of irregular skin patches forming, interleukins, and cytokines
- Vitamin E
- Anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing
- Reduces the effects of UV sun damage to the skin, including photodamage
- Improves skin texture, preventing irregular skin patches such as odd thickness, erythema, edema, and others
- Minerals
- Zinc
- Omega-3 fatty acids
- Improves skin hydration, subdues breakouts and balances oil production, and minimize signs of aging
- Antioxidants
- May protect skin cells from the effects of free radicals
Allergy Warning
Avoid using Almond Oil if you are allergic to nuts, or have had any prior adverse experiences. Use caution if wearing outside, as naturally occurring Retinol (Vitamin A) can increase skin sensitivity to UV exposure.
Sun Exposure Warning
Please exercise caution with all natural oil-based lotions when bare skin is exposed to the sun, as it can worsen the sun's effects. Sun tanning oils tend to include natural oils to increase UV rays - so do not use this unless that is your goal! Wear sunscreen with an appropriate SPF outdoors when it is sunny, not natural oil-based lotions.
