Candle Tips

Learn how to care for your candles to get the best results and longest life out of them! These basic candle tips will help you get the most from your Brigid candles.

Before lighting any candle for the first time, make sure to first trim the wick down to 1/4", and always trim the wick down again before relighting. Wick trimmers are ideal for this purpose, since using scissors can be awkward, fray the wick end, and make the flame gutter and spark.

Allow the candle to burn for at least one hour so that the flame can form a wax pool across the entire top of the candle. This helps to prevent tunneling over the course of the candle's life, keeping the candle burn time long.

Ingredients Information

All Brigid candles are made with premium grade soy wax, cotton wicks, and are fragranced with plastic-free oils.

For Aromatherapy Candles

Essential oil candles are scented much more delicately than most fragranced candles found on the commercial market. Because of this, they do not "throw" their scent as much as a fragrance oils do.

For Premium Scented Candles

Premium fragranced candles use fragrance oils (and often also essential oils) from brands that we consider safe. This means these are scented with oils created with both natural and synthetically-crafted oils, and so cannot be considered all-natural.

These candles are considered Premium Grade, or Cosmetic Grade, which in the industry means they are rigorously tested and approved by the FDA. Along with our aromatherapy candles, these candles are also phthalate, paraben, and acetone free.
