Welcome to Brigid
Brigid natural home and body products are inspired by Celtic culture and are handmade in the Pacific Northwest.
We're a two-person team located in the woods of western Washington, inspired to create by our love of history, mythology, and our adventures across Ireland. After years of creating scents and perfecting our recipes for home and body products, we're excited to share our premium handcrafted goods with you.
Our love of history of mythology is part of what inspires us to imagine more light in the world - one candle at a time.
Who Is Brigid?
The inspiration for our name is Brigid, the Irish goddess of the Dawn. She first appears in pre-Christian Celtic mythology, and has gained many names over the years:
- Saint Brigid of Kildare in modern Christianity, the patron saint for millions
- Brigantia, translation: "Lightbringer"
- Heusos, translation: "The Dawn"
Brigid's place in many cultures, myths, and religions is consistently that of the bringer of light to the world. She traditionally symbolizes traits like wisdom, healing, and resiliency.
Brigid's annual holiday is Imbolc (held in Midwinter on February 1st or 2nd). Lighting candles on Imbolc symbolizes the rising of the sun and the coming of Spring, when the days start to grow longer. Brigid's theme is all about moving forward from darkness by taking an action to create light.
Our "Why"
Like many, we faced our challenges during the pandemic and adjusting to life afterwards. Exhausted by the digital world, we found more and more importance in simple acts like lighting a candle and being present. Over time, this desire to spread light led us to create Brigid Trading Company.
Our focus on Brigid helps inspire us to bring our own light to times of darkness. Our mission is to bring that spirit to daily life with hand-poured candles, home and body goods, and self-care products. Everything we create is designed to inspire positivity, comfort, healing, empowerment, and growth.
Ethics
We believe strongly in a sustainable, more equitable future. To help achieve this, we design our products to be:
- environmentally sustainable ingredients
- as natural as possible (while allowing fragrance/flavor variety and shelf-stability)
- human-healthy
- low waste packaging
- strongly against animal testing, and never tested on animals
Our Growth Plans
As Brigid grows, we plan to give back in ways that support the health of our planet, the dignity of all people, and the preservation of Irish and Irish-aligned cultures that value a conscious respect for humanity.
