Description
xThe Lughnasadh Goat Milk Soap is a handcrafted goat milk bar soap scented with wild blackberries, fresh oats, and golden honey: Brigid's harvest scent in the most enduring form of soap there is.
We mill our goat milk soap from a traditional Greek recipe: slow, cold-process, with real goat milk for a gentle, creamy lather. The Lughnasadh version takes that base and brings in the festival's scent: blackberries ripening on the bramble, oats in the field, honey warm in the sun. Goat milk and oats are both classic skin soothers, which makes this an especially nice bar for anyone whose skin gets irritated easily.
A natural bar soap that smells like the end of summer, and a perfect Lammas gift.
Lughnasadh (pronounced LOO-nah-sah) is one of the four great Celtic fire festivals, marking the beginning of the harvest season on August 1st. Traditionally dedicated to the god Lugh, the festival celebrated the first grains, fruits, and vegetables gathered from the land. Communities came together to honor the earth’s abundance with feasts, games, and offerings of bread made from the season’s first harvest. Lughnasadh is a time of gratitude, reflection, and renewal, reminding us to celebrate the rewards of hard work and the natural cycles that sustain us.
Today, celebrating Lughnasadh can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. Many people bake fresh bread, enjoy seasonal fruits like blackberries and apples, or decorate their homes with wheat stalks, sunflowers, and candles in shades of gold and amber. Outdoor picnics, crafting, and sharing meals with loved ones all honor the spirit of community that defines this festival. Lighting a candle or offering thanks to the earth can turn Lughnasadh into a moment of mindfulness, welcoming the slow shift from summer’s abundance to autumn’s harvests.
